BRAND NEW and TOTALLY UNIQUE BASKETBALL CAMP is now right here in Plainsboro! Most basketball camps focus exclusively on Man-to-Man Offense and Defense, which is vitally important to building the foundation of your success as a basketball player. However, that’s not where the game ends… In fact, most basketball teams at all levels from Middle School to High School to AAU to NCAA Division 1 programs play A LOT of zone and it’s something you HAVE TO be prepared for to survive and thrive at the next level!
IN THE ZONE Basketball Camp focuses on applying man-to-man offensive and defensive skills to zone offense and zone defense sets. You will learn how to play a 2-3 Match-Up Zone, 1-3-1 Half-Court Trap, and a 3-2 (aka “12 Fill”) Zone. You will see how Man-to-Man concepts such as “Ball-You-Man”, Hot Feet, Jump-to-the-ball, Hand Down-Man Down, and other team/shell defense skills make a good zone Defense GREAT! You will learn the most effective ways to attack an odd front (1-3-1 or 3-2) versus an even front (2-3) and how to use man-to-man offensive skills such as motion offense, dribble penetration, and pick & pop, to shred zone defenses. We will also toss out the “No-Press” rule that is typically employed in summer basketball camps and embrace full court zone presses such as Diamond, 2-2-1, 1-3-1 ¾ Court Trap, and 2-1-2. You will also learn press breaks that will not only allow your team to survive full court press but will make your opponent pay for pressing by turning your press break into a lay-up line! Get prepared for EVERYTHING that you will see at the next level… Get IN THE ZONE!
Campers will also have the option to purchase pizza, drinks, and snacks for lunch each day or bring their own lunch and snack.
Pre and Post Camp are also available at Community Middle School through WWP Community Education for an additional fee. Basketball Camp staff members will escort the campers between the two schools. Registration for Pre and/or Post Camp is done directly with WWP Community Education.
Financial Assistance is available; if you plan to apply you cannot register online. Please come to our office or call x1719 for detailed information.
