Debate Camp 2.0 is limited to participants who have already completed a week of Debate Camp 1.0 and/or Mock Trial Camp 1.0 in the summer of 2015 or 2016, or are registered for a week of Debate Camp 1.0 and/or Mock Trial 1.0 for the summer of 2017. It will feature an accelerated pace and more advanced program designed to sharpen debate and mock trial skills at a more competitive level. Less time will be spent on the acquisition of skill though mini-lessons and modeling and more time will be spent engaged in competitive debates, and mock trials. Advanced techniques such as “stealing thunder” from your opponent, creating a “slippery slope” argument, and attacking a “straw man” argument will take the debates in this camp to a whole different level! Since less time will be devoted to the direct teaching of the fundamental debate format, campers will be engaged in more debates throughout the week. The week will feature one preliminary tournament and will culminate with a festive Olympic Debate Tournament in the Plainsboro Cultural & Recreation Center and a Mock Trial in the Plainsboro Municipal Courthouse!
Pre- Camp is not available, however Post Camp will be offered through WWP North Athletic Camps at the Plainsboro Recreation & Cultural Center for an additional fee. Registration for Post Camp must be done prior to the start of camp either on the Township website or in person at the Recreation & Cultural Center.
Financial Assistance is available; if you plan to apply you cannot register online. Please come to our office or call x1719 for detailed information.
