The Patrol Division is the backbone of the Police Department.  

The department has 24 Patrol Officers that are supervised over four shifts by 4 Patrol Sergeants as well as 4 Patrol Corporals. 

Patrol Officers are responsible for the initial handling of all calls that are received by the communications center. These calls vary from disabled vehicles to felony level crimes in progress. Calls that necessitate an immediate arrest are handled and completed by the patrol officer including all processing and bookings of the suspect. Calls that require further investigation are referred by the officer to one of our specialty units such as the Detective Bureau or the Traffic Bureau. In these cases, the patrol officer will complete all the necessary paperwork for the follow up to be done. Patrol officers, at times, work hand in hand with the detectives or traffic officers to complete the case.
