Summer Fun with Plainsboro Recreation!
Evenings in the Preserve: No registration required. All Evenings in the Preserve will take place at the Preserve and are free! Open to all ages.
Magic Show: Looking to join in on some family fun tonight? Come to the Plainsboro Preserve for our Evenings in the Preserve: Magic Show! Join us for some astounding feats of illusion with hilarious audience participation. The magic show will carefully blend a combination of magic and comedy that will keep you at the edge of your seat. TONIGHT ,Thursday, 6/23 at 6:30 pm.
Meet the Bugs at the Preserve: This presentation gives a 10-to-20 minute introduction to the wild and wonderful world of insects. Depending on the weather and the season, the presentation may also include a 15-to-25 minute guided nature walk. Thursday, 6/30 at 6:30 pm.
Let’s Build Fairy Houses: If you build it they will come.. Fairies that is.. We will venture into the Plainsboro Preserve where we will create a welcoming village of Fairy houses to encourage our little sparkly friends to visit. Don’t forget your insect repellant. Thursday, 7/7 at 6:30 pm.
Crazy about Beavers: Come out and learn about our resident beavers. We will take a walk to see if we can find any evidence of any of these curious creatures. Don’t forget your insect repellant. Thursday, 7/14 at 6:30 pm.
Great Reptiles: Come out and meet and learn about some very large reptiles. During this program, you get to learn about these scaly goliaths, including our 8-9 ft. Burmese Pythons, large Anaconda, our monitor lizards, and some Jurassic looking turtles and tortoises! Tuesday, 7/21 at 6:30 pm.
Why Wasps Matter: Everyone agrees that bees and butterflies are worth protecting. They pollinate flowers and crops and serve as cultural symbols of nature, health, and prosperity. But wasps are a different story. Almost everyone views wasps with disdain, or at most suspicion. But that's not the whole story. Thursday, 7/28 at 6:30 pm.
Night Hike: Explore the thrilling sights, smells, and sounds of night as we hike through the Plainsboro Preserve. Night hikers will be encouraged to sharpen their senses to be able to spot signs of animal life and learn more about the inhabitants of the Preserve. Thursday, 8/4 at 8:00 pm.
Nature Scavenger Hunt: Join in the fun as you and your family explore the Plainsboro Preserve trails in search of all the items on your scavenger hunt list. Thursday, 8/11 at 6:30 pm.
Summer Blast Movies:
All ages. Bring along a blanket or beach chair and join us for our outdoor movie events. Enjoy free music and refreshments starting at 7pm, movies start at dusk. Snacks will be provided by Princeton Alliance Church.
No registration necessary, just come and enjoy the night. All movies will take place at the Municipal Complex Field (Plainsboro Road).
Encanto: This Friday, June 24th, we will be showing Encanto. Encanto follows a multigenerational Colombian family, the Madrigals, led by a matriarch (Botero) whose children and grandchildren—except for Mirabel Madrigal (Beatriz)—receive magical gifts from a miracle that helps them serve the people in their rural community called the Encanto. When Mirabel learns that the family is losing their magic, she sets out to find out what is happening, and save her family and their magical house. It’s a movie you won’t want to miss!
Sing 2: Friday, July 22nd. The story is set after the events of the previous film, where Buster Moon and his group put on a show in Redshore City while working to impress an entertainment mogul and enlist a reclusive rock star to perform.
Luca: Friday, August 19th. Set on the Italian Riviera, the film centers on Luca Paguro, a young sea monster boy with the ability to assume human form while on land, who explores the town of Portorosso with his new best friend, Alberto Scorfano, experiencing a life-changing summer adventure.
