Springtime Fun!

Here at the Recreation Center we have spring break activities, egg hunts, events, and more springtime fun! Sign up before classes and camps fill! 

All About Solar Eclipses (Adults; Ages 14+): 1 Class; Sunday, March 17 from 10:30 am – 11:30 am. (FREE) You may have heard that in early April this year there will be a Solar Eclipse in the USA. Do you know what a solar eclipse is? Why it occurs? What to expect? How to safely observe it? If you don’t know the answers to these questions or want to learn more, come and join us for an hour-long talk that answers these questions and more! All participants will receive a pair of solar eclipse glasses to keep (and are safe to view the Sun with at any time). Weather permitting, we will have a chance to observe the sun through a telescope. The Great EGGsploration: Sunday, March 24, 2024;   1:30pm The Easter bunny has been hopping throughout the Preserve and has left a mess of eggs along the trails. We are hoping you can come help us by finding them and bringing them back to the Center. We will have a prize for you when you bring back the eggs. And we will even have a special prize for the person who finds the "Golden Egg." "Official" Spring Break Game Day! (Ages 5-11) Tuesday, March 26 9:30-10:30 am. ($5) The Official Fun Guys are bringing the fun to Plainsboro yet again! You know and love them from Plainsboro Rec Camp – come have some fun playing their biggest and best games during spring break! This program will not only entertain your kids and get them up and moving, it will also teach teamwork, leadership, and sportsmanship. This event is sure to make your spring break Officially Fun! Spring Break Movie Day - "Elemental" (ALL ages) Thursday, March 28 1:00-3:00 pm. (FREE). Come spend a spring break day with us and watch “Elemental”! Snacks will be provided. Adults must be registered and be present with child/children!

Rain Barrel Making Workshop (18+): 1 Class; Saturday, March 30 from 12:00 pm – 3:00 pm ($25.00 per barrel) April showers bring May flowers! Be ready for them by saving up some of that water in a safe, eco-friendly, and economical way by building a catchment system of your own. Spring Egg Hunt at the Wicoff House: Saturday, March 30, 2024; 1:00-2:00pm Hunt for eggs on the museum lawn & exchange them for prizes! The Plainsboro Fire Company will join us with their fire trucks so kids can climb aboard and learn how they work. Kids can also do crafts and learn how to do an age-appropriate quick yoga flow after the egg hunt. Free to everyone, ONLY REGISTER CHILD'S NAME, adults don’t need to register to bring their kids. Philadelphia Family Bus Trip: Saturday, March 30, 9:30 am departure. ALL Ages! (Resident $15/Non-Resident $20). Join us as we visit one of our country’s oldest cities – “The City of Brotherly Love!” The bus will drop us off at The Constitution Center where we will participate in a 75-minute walking tour of local historical sites and attractions (walking tour cost is included in your registration fee). Then, you will be free to explore the city on your own until the bus departs at 6:30 pm.

Forever 55-Preserve the P.E.A.C.E. Mental Health Workshops 9 classes; Saturdays April 6-June 8, from 9:30-10:30 am (Resident: free Non-resident senior club member: $25) These weekly workshops will help you improve your mental health and plan for an overall healthier lifestyle. The activities offered will include: Art, Writers Workshop, Game Day, Gardening, Bingo & Dancing. All materials will be provided. This program is run by three high school students who created the non-profit group called Preserve the P.E.A.C.E.

Forever 55-Cancer Thriving & Surviving Workshop 6 classes; Mondays April 15-May 20, from 12:45-3:15 pm (Free) This program is offered by The Chronic Disease Coalition of Middlesex and Union Counties. All individuals are welcome, but individuals that have received a cancer diagnosis in the past, are currently undergoing cancer treatment, or care for someone with cancer would benefit the most from participating in this workshop. Each participant will receive a copy of the companion book: Living a Healthy Life with Chronic Conditions, healthy snacks, and a completion certificate. Register here:

Women’s Foundation Tennis 8 classes; Sundays April 14-June 16, from 8:00-8:50 am (Resident & Non-resident: $204.00) Foundation Tennis is designed to introduce players to the fundamentals of tennis, including stroke technique, serving, court awareness, and rallying. Activities are delivered in a low-pressure, yet energetic environment, ensuring optimal learning while maintaining the enjoyment of being on the tennis court. Instructional Pickleball 8 classes; Thursdays April 18-June 6, from 8:00-8:50 am (Resident & Non-resident: $184.00) This class introduces beginners and those with little experience to the fundamentals of pickleball. Our professional pickleball coaches will ensure that players are taught in a low-pressure and fun environment. Players will be instructed in pickleball fundamental techniques in ground-strokes, serving, volleying, and dinks, as well as scoring, tactics, and game rules. This all takes place through a series of fun challenges, structured activities, and each session finishes with 30 minutes of match play. Register here:
