Summer Camps & classes

There is still time to register! Our camps and classes are designed to ignite curiosity, inspire creativity, and foster lifelong friendships. Whether your child dreams of exploring the great outdoors, unleashing their inner artist, or diving into the realms of science and technology, we have something for everyone. Here's a sneak peek at what awaits:

PRE-K CAMP: Full morning of interaction for social, cognitive, and physical growth in a fun, nurturing environment. Arts and crafts, games, special events, and presenters! All children must be potty trained to attend camp. Only $200 per session, ages 4-5.

PLAINSBORO REC CAMP: Recreational camp for children entering grades 1-6 provides a variety of indoor and outdoor activities such as arts and crafts, multi-cultural games, fitness, science, and nature. Special presentations and trips are being planned throughout the summer. STEAM Boost Camps w/ STEAM Works Studio: The Township of Plainsboro is working with STEAM Works Studio to offer Summer STEAM Boost Camps. STEAM Works Studio is uniquely focused towards fostering and developing essential 21st Century and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) skills like problem-Solving, Critical thinking, Creativity and Collaboration in a hands-on and practical but fun learning environment. Full and Half Day camps to choose from.

Exploring Devil’s Brook (Families): 1 Class; Saturday, June 15, 2024 from 2:00 pm – 3:30 pm. ($10.00 per family) Join us as we hike through the Preserve and explore Devil's Brook as it flows out of McCormack Lake. Come prepared to get wet and have fun searching for a variety of wildlife including insects, fish, and frogs. Learn about the stream's health from the animals that live there. Raptors of the Sky presented by Cedar Run Wildlife Refuge (All Ages): 1 Class; Thursday, June 20, 2024 from 6:30 pm – 7:30 pm. (FREE; No Registration Required) Get to know a few of the animal ambassadors that Cedar Run Wildlife Refuge’s “Refuge on Wheels” program will bring to the Plainsboro Preserve. Attendees will be introduced to raptors (birds of prey) and learn all about the characteristics that allow these majestic birds to thrive in the wild. This activity is a part of our Thursday Evenings in the Parks series of FREE programs. Please drop-in, no registration required! 

Fiber Arts: Nuno Felt Scarf (Adults; Ages 15+): 1 Class; Sunday, June 23, 2024 from 10:00 am – 1:00 pm. ($50.00 per person) Create a light summertime felted scarf with silk in this 3-hour hands-on workshop with artist Nelly Kouzmina. Beginners welcome! No prior felting experience required. Nature Play (Ages 5-8): 6 Classes; Tuesdays June 25 – August 6, 2024 from 9:00 am – 10:30 am. ($30.00 per child) No time for a full week of summer camp, but still want to get outdoors and play? Join us at the Plainsboro Preserve for this once-a-week program where we will explore outdoors while building forts, fairy houses, and playing with new friends! Participants should bring a snack, water bottle, and insect repellent.

Kids’ Nature Photography – Summer Edition (Ages 8 – 12): 5 Classes; Wednesdays June 26 – July 31, 2024 from 9:00 am – 10:30 am. ($25.00 per child) Bring your camera or borrow one of ours as we investigate summer sights around the Preserve, and improve your photography skills along the way! This is a great once-a-week program option for kids who can't commit to a whole week of camp but still want to get in on some summer fun. Magic Show (All Ages): 1 Class; Thursday, June 27, 2024 from 6:30 pm – 7:30 pm. (FREE; No Registration Required) Join us for astounding feats of illusion with hilarious audience participation that will be fun for the whole family! This magic show will combine magic and comedy that will be sure to keep you on the edge of your seat. This activity is a part of our Thursday Evenings in the Parks series of FREE programs. STEP For A Better World shoe drive! Bring your new and gently used shoes to the Recreation Center by Monday, June 24^th We have a box placed near the entrance where shoes can be dropped off.
