[ARCHIVED] Alert: Internal Revenue Service Phone Scam

Phone Scam.jpg

The agent stated money owed to the IRS and the resident was threatened with arrest by the Plainsboro Police if they did not send money immediately. The telephone number on the caller ID was 609-799-0909, which is the Township’s main number. We believe this is a masking number and does not originate from the Township.

DO NOT be scammed by these fraudulent agents.

According to Plainsboro’s Police Chief Guy Armour, “You will never receive a call from Plainsboro Township regarding IRS matters. Please disregard these calls and forward the information through the Police on-line reporting system. The IRS would contact you through certified mail, in the event they need to speak with you”. If you need any further information please contact the Plainsboro Police Department at 609-799-2333.
