On or about May 21, 2025 construction will begin on various capital improvements in the Plainsboro Village Center, Market Square Park area*. Improvements include adding safety and aesthetics features such as benches, a designated seating area, planters, ground cover, shrubs, bike racks, signage, decorative lighting, brick pavers, realignment of sidewalk to the fountain, and more.
The project will require Market Square Park, including the fountain, to be closed for the duration of construction, which is expected to take approximately five months (weather permitting). Roads surrounding the Market Square Park area will remain open to residents and businesses as well as the Plainsboro Public Library.
Hours of construction will be Monday – Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm. Any questions about construction can be sent to the township at administration-1@plainsboronj.com
Moynihan Companies, LLC., of Andover, New Jersey, was identified as the lowest responsible bidder for construction work. This is the same contractor that built the Bulk Farm Nature Center on Cranbury Neck Road.
*The planning and design process was done by Arterial, LLC from Montclair, NJ who gathered input from area residents, businesses and other small groups to obtain feedback on what is working and not working, and what ideas they have for enhancements. This was followed by the establishment of a township working team composed of planning, recreation, public works, library senior staff and members of the public to formulate a design and concept plan.
