Park Ranger Division
Plainsboro Township has 9 park facilities including the Plainsboro Preserve with its over
1,000 acres of open space with nature trails and the 50-acre McCormack Lake. The Township recently opened a new 84-acre park which includes open space and nature trails. Together, publicly owned park and open space resources, preserved farmland and private open space account for over 3,300 acres, or approximately 51 percent of Plainsboro’s land resources. Plainsboro offers abundant open space for recreation and wildlife. Our Park Rangers take pride in safeguarding these areas and serving as a valuable resource to the community.
Daily Patrols
Park Rangers conduct daily patrols to maintain the safety, cleanliness, and accessibility of Plainsboro’s parks, trails, and natural areas. They provide guidance to visitors, answer questions, and assist visitors with park-related concerns. While on patrol, rangers also monitor park conditions, enforce park rules and Township park ordinances, and respond to calls for service.
Community Engagement
Interacting with the community is a key part of a Park Ranger’s role. Park rangers and naturalists provide a variety of nature/environmental programs for education and enrichment, including the Family Fishing Clinics, Junior Park Ranger Program, Kayaking Classes, and Nature Walks at Bulk Farm. They also assist in coordinating township-wide events and provide site security.
Conservation and Land Management
Park rangers are responsible for the land management efforts at Bulk Farm. Rangers help maintain the Preserve’s extensive trail network, ensuring pathways are safe, well-marked, and free of debris. They assist with conservation efforts, working alongside volunteers to remove invasive species, plant native vegetation, and wildlife management.
Facility Reservations
Park Rangers manage the permitting and reservation process for park and recreation facilities. They assist residents with questions regarding reservations and inform the public of the Township’s Facility Use Eligibility & Guidelines. By Township ordinance, reservations are available exclusively to qualified Plainsboro residents, businesses, and local organizations.
