Read a complete list of park ordinances, Chapter 25, online. Below are some basic park use rules. Township of Plainsboro (Ordinance 25-1 through 25-11) Violators subject to fines up to $1,000 or imprisonment for each offense.
Reservations for athletic courts, fields, and picnic areas are done online only. By ordinance, reservation permits for park facility use are issued only to qualified Plainsboro residents, Plainsboro businesses, and Plainsboro based leagues/organizations.
Park Rules
- Park hours are sunrise to sunset unless otherwise posted.
- Motorized vehicles are restricted to designated parking areas and roadways. Driving on grass areas is prohibited.
- The sale of goods or services are prohibited, whether for profit or to raise funds for non-profit organizations. This includes, any meeting where admission is charged.
- No person shall smoke a lighted cigarette, cigar, pipe, or any other matter or substance which contains tobacco, cannabis, or its derivatives, nor smoke, inhale or exhale any other matter from an electronic devise in or on any township property, park or recreation facility (25-2B).
- Pets must be on leashes at all times and may not be secured to trees or other structures (see park ordinances for detailed information pertaining to pet regulations). Leashes must be 6 feet or shorter. Owners are responsible for cleaning up after their pets. No pets permitted in the Preserve. Domestic animals permitted in designated areas only.
- Bicycles, skates, carriages are not permitted on tennis, pickleball, or basketball courts.
- Alcoholic beverages are not permitted.
- No biking, boating, or fishing permitted at the Preserve.
- No swimming is permitted in any township waters.
- Use of park facilities is at one’s own risk.
- Hitting of golf balls on any park property is strictly prohibited (25-2B).
- Open fires are prohibited and portable grills may not be brought into parks. All grill fires must be extinguished prior to leaving the area.
- Picnic tables may not be moved from one area to another.
- Signs or markers may be posted on the day of your activity provided they are free standing. Do not attach signs to park structures or plantings. Signs must be removed at the end of your activity.
- Amusements and similar rentals are prohibited.
- Trash removal is the responsibility of the group. Do not leave exposed food trash which will attract rodents and wild animals.

Important Information
A permit for using a picnic facility grants the applicant priority use of a specific area. Residency is required for eligibility. Permits for picnic areas are granted for one time use on a first come – first served basis. Permits are not granted to minors. Use of township parks is at one’s own risk. Applicants assume responsibility for their group’s use of the park including adherence to park ordinances and regulations. Applicants will be held responsible for fines or reimbursement for damages to township property that may result from their group’s use of the area. Picnic area reservations do not include or imply use of any other park facilities. Additionally, permit holders should be aware that the reservation grants only use of the space.
